Time to cool off

* I felt tired for the first time yesterday. Tired of the hob-nobbing, tired of the cocktail drinks and smooth white linen tablecloths. Tired of spending time in taxis and trains and walking around town when I got stuff to do at home... Guess it's part of the game, but I've shifted gear. Time to focus on content again, and less on the social/marketing side.
* Pretty late in last night too, after moving down to the Oak Door after drinks at Maduro, was supposed to be a cheap night out... ahem. No comment. Just that Tianxiang is a very nice and intelligent, if opinionated young lady. First Chinese lawyer of Coudert Brothers allowed (forced to get?) out of her Beijing office and off to the Tokyo office. And she studied finance at Uni, but passed her bar exam by studying in her spare time? Mmm, not your usual Jane.
* But managed to talk Laurent (Grand Hyatt) into basically providing the Juniper if we can provide the people. The night is provisionally called "Casablanca Lounge". We're going to deck out the place as a classy lounge/tent, with cushions, sofas, and a terrace/desert area outside that we're going to fill with white sand. Dom Perignon is a potential sponsor, and we get NaviBlog promotion for free. What's the hitch? None, just success. Golden opportunities, here we go... By the way, Bulgari Japan were having a party there last night.
* It was nice to meet the wife of the Thai ambassador, she is a member of the Asian Ladies Friendship Society chorus group. First time I heard someone sing a solo in Thai. Almost like being back in the Shanghai 1920s or something, with this deep, feminine voice rising out of the front of the hall. Quite something. Met the wife of ex-Japanese Foreign Minister Komura as well, she happens to be Chairwoman of the Asian Ladies Friendship Society: very sprightly and youthful-looking. 40s maybe?
* All in all, a productive day it definitely was. Still, time to cool off.
