* Shaved off the Alps Map Server, kept the Oracle DB and added a hardware router for security: this gives us a total of 3.4m yen (or 32,400 USD). Using up other latent cost leftovers from marketing and Internet connection, gives us a total about 700USD over the annual budget.
* Now we have to create the database though Oracle, develop the server software that will put maps and blogs together in Java with Websphere, create an XML database in Oracle to speed up text-only blog changes. Now all we need to do is buy it, build it, develop the programs and get it ready... and we have 3 months to the (limited) release of the 1st test version.
* Anyone know a full-time developer who can do Linux Red Hat (ES3) - Websphere (5.1.1/5.1.2) - Java J2EE (1.4/1.5) - XML/XSLT - Oracle (9i/10g)? The actual version doesn't matter, e.g. Oracle 9i as opposed to 10g etc., as long as they know how to use the technology. Pay is 180,000yen +5% profit share incentives. It's not much, but he/she needs to be the best!
