* I have been following the microlending communities in Bangladesh bringing people out of poverty with small, repayable loans. At the same time, the increasingly pro-west (as in neoliberal US) Indian government next door is taking away the freedom of owning seeds and grains from their own farmers, forcing them to use state-sponsored patented grain at a higher price.
* Halfway across the hemisphere and over into Venezuela where the 6-year old Bolivarian revolution is booming; a grassroots revitalisation out of poverty and into dignity and education... go Chavez!
* Little much out of the continent of Africa, save some critics of internal repression of Nigerian freedoms. Nothing much out of Sudan's Darfur either, maybe after years of catastrophic famine and genocide, everyone just died while the international community/Union of African States looked the other way.
