Mobile explosion

* Busting all my predictions even 6 months ago, the number of Japan's no.2 mobile phone carrier "au" subscribers shoot to 18m. Of those 90% are 3rd generation models, which gives more than 16m Japanese walking around with the latest mobile phones on the Planet.
* At the same time, and within 19 months of start-of-service, au's music download service just blitzed past its 200 milionth download. Considering you pay an average of 300yen a month for subscribing to such a service (averaged over time), and you're staring at (10m-odd subscribers*300yen*19 months=) 550m US$ straight in the face. And with 20m subscribers soon, you have a 450m US$-a-year mobile music market sitting in front of you... gold rush anybody?!
