NaviblogFM: DJ Mike − "Hip-Hop Nation 2006"

Well... back again.
"Hip-Hop Nation 2006" is the name of my newest playlist. Its something I've wanted to do for quite some time but felt it wasn't really appropriate for the image we're trying to portray here at NaviblogFM. I mean, you have to admit, there is a lot of Hip Hop/Rap music out there that is offensive to some people but not to others. Of course I think about that but, I also feel that I haven't been playing a type of music (hip hop) that I really enjoy due to worrying about an image.

Well, those days are officially over...

I grew up listening to R&B, Soul, Hip Hop, Rap, Gospel, Blues and Jazz, just to mention a few and they all have influenced my life. I am proud of Black artists and what they have done to shape the American culture and its music industry. Their music, whether Hip Hop or Jazz is listened to worldwide and the business is still striving because of their music.

Some of the people to look for this time around include: Eric B. & Rakim, Run DMC, the Sugar Hill Gang, Blonde, Rare Essence, Trouble Funk, Malcom McLaren, Tupac, The Phat Cat, L.L. Cool J, DJ Krush and many more.

So, with this playlist, I pay tribute to all the past Hip Hop artists who have played an important part in my life and to those who continue to play a part. I do realize that some people won't like the music, but to those people I say please check back as soon as possible for different playlists. For those who do appreciate a certain art in its rawest form, get ready to move a bit to some old Skool Hip Hop beats.
