Second day on the job update

Been working on a number of things to set the pace for the month of January:
* Sent off for 4 machines yesterday that will make up the development environment, 3 machines for the development environment, and another 1 will act as firewall when we eventually get our internet connection. Although we will be getting an industrial strength 100MB connection (both ways), we will only get it in February, so a little waiting til then...
* Will be working on the NaviBlog patent over the next two weeks and hope to submit the document in more or less its final form by Jan 24th to the IP expert office we have been already started working with in December 2004. I want the patent to be off the ground by end-January, so I can start focusing on the actual nuts and bolts of the NaviBlog software from February on.
* Looking at how I can develop the software for this quickly and without hassle: got a book on RSS (one of the technologies behind blogs) yesterday, so going through that too.
* Found a great book in London on marketing New Luxury products, called "Trading Up - The New American Luxury". From background info on the creation and rise of such products as Mondavi/Kendall-Jackson California wines, Belvedere/Grey Goose luxury vodkas, or the shift in dynamism from Cadillac to Mercedes-Benz to BMW/Lexus automobiles over the last 40 yrs. Makes for very interesting reading, but how does this apply to NaviBlog?... Wait and see.
