Latest flash

-- fresh from the NAVIBLOG newsroom

* The sunglass maker Oakley and very cross-industry mobile maker Motorola are teaming up on their latest Bluetooth sunglasses due out in the US in August. The price is a modest 300USD for the latest in macho cool and receiving phonecalls without having to lift a finger! Look ma, no hands!... Ahem.
* In the business news, no. 4 Japan mobile carrier TUKA (that I talked about in yesterday's blog) will now be acquired by no. 2 KDDI's au carrier for some "synergy" effect. I'm willing to bet the bank that they're after the grey yen. Indeed, there's plenty of where that kind of yen came from with Japan's frenetically aging population base. Also Japan's top virtual mall, Rakuten, has shown a 40%+ increase in profits, for what seems a good year now that they have daily sports news coverage of their brand, through their baseball team. That's how you do it in Japan.
* In other news, our launch party will be at Roppongi Hills on Saturday August 28th, starting at 5pm, so don't miss it. The location will be kept secret until just before the event. The limited edition, numbered launch mixCD features such artists as Basement Jaxx, LCD Soundsystem, and Groove Armada among others... watch this space for free sample tracks.
