Civil unrest in Western Iran province keeps cropping up

* I'm very very suspicious when this kind of thing keeps cropping up in the newsfeeds. I have already documented news items on this on my blog here . Beginning to think trouble fomented in the oil-rich and otherwise decrepit Khuzestan region is a bad sign.
* Reading this report by a geography (Iran?) expert that lays out the ground work in a LOT of detail. I never realized this province has always acted as a power valve for powers great and small in the region for centuries, and especially over the last 130 years or so, since the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company -- the now-famous "Beyond Petroleum" BP.
