* An update on China's military/defense capability, provided by globalsecurity.org. Guess I was just searching around in the same vein as the Iranian strategic unrest in Khuzestan. The document was presented to the US Congress earlier this year in July apparently. I guess it is pretty much the state of the art as far as an informed overview is concerned.
* It does make you change your view of the PLA, especially in the usually prickly/fearful way the "rise of China" is presented in the media here in Japan, with its liberal anything-goes melting pot of Chinese military spending+economic expansion+increased competitivity+jobs to China+increased nationalism+healthy doses of subdued racism+[insert here your favourite China-fear].
* Makes you seem things much more rationally... even if my knowledge of Asia was kicked off by China, I guess these 6 years in Japan has been a long time!!
